What is concrete?

Concrete slabs are a common building element that is used as a structural component. It is a thick and flat horizontal concrete surface typically used for an area for flooring or as a roof. Concrete slabs are employed in some homes to support the foundation, or directly on the ground.

Our Concrete Slab Installation Process

Concrete slabs are not for the faint of heart. Port St. Lucie Concrete Contractors follow strict concrete slab construction procedure that conforms to the local code and standards of industry.

Safety is our first priority for us in all of our concrete projects. Before we begin any project, we make sure we equip ourselves with safety gear. Eye protection and long sleeves, or long pants rubber boots, gloves or rubber shoes are all necessary. All of these safeguards protect us from concrete splashes that can cause damage to our overall health and well-being.

As with the process we follow the following steps:

Step 1: Preparation on the spot

We follow the exact same process no matter what size concrete slab project we're working on. Each project starts by preparing the area. We tidy up and get rid of debris so that we can begin from scratch. In preparation we make sure that all the materials are available on the job site. We plan the delivery of materials prior to the actual work. This lets us finish the work on time.

Step 2 Build Concrete Forms, Reinforce Concrete Slab with Stahl

Once the site has been cleared and prepared, we will move on to the installation of concrete forms constructed of wire mesh. Concrete forms are solid barriers that help to hold the concrete mix in place. Concrete forms also allow concrete mix to take on a specific shape or design. To strengthen concrete using reinforced concrete, we mix it by using rebar. This makes concrete stronger surfaces.

Step 3: Mixing Concrete Mix

To help us, we use a concrete truck. It helps ensure concrete materials are mixed properly. Sometimes, we do manual mixing. In the majority of projects the use of a concrete mixer is a must.

Step 4: Pouring Concrete

After mixing concrete we pour a concrete slab into the forms. To avoid air pockets, we cautiously pour the mix of concrete. Air pockets are created when there is not enough mortar available to fill the spaces surrounding the aggregate. Concrete is produced by spreading the mix evenly throughout the shape.
